ChemFloc – Liquid Pool Flocculant

Chemfloc is a liquid pool flocculant which is heavy duty treatment for swimming pools which is highly effective and a good alternative to granular flocculant. ChemFloc does not require any pre-dissolving and will also remove dead algae following treatment with PoolQuat algaecide treatment.

Instructions

Flocculation is the process of grouping small particles together into larger clumps, which can then be easily removed from the pool by vacuuming. Here are the general steps for using Chemfloc to flocculate a pool:

  1. Test the water: Before adding any chemicals to your pool, it's important to test the water to determine the current levels of pH, alkalinity, and chlorine. This will help ensure that the chemicals are added in the correct amounts.
  2. Adjust the pH: If the pH level is not within the recommended range of 7.2-7.6, adjust it using a pH increaser or decreaser as needed.
  3. Add the ChemFloc: In general, you will need to add the ChemFloc to the deep end of the pool, near the return jet, with the pump running.
  4. Circulate the water: Allow the pump to run for several hours to circulate the ChemFloc throughout the pool.
  5. Turn off the pump: After several hours, turn off the pump and allow the water to settle for 12-24 hours. During this time, the ChemFloc will group the small particles together into larger clumps, which will settle to the bottom of the pool.
  6. Vacuum the pool: Once the water has settled, use a pool vacuum to remove the larger clumps of particles from the bottom of the pool. Be sure to vacuum slowly and carefully to avoid stirring up the settled particles.
  7. Backwash the filter: After vacuuming, be sure to backwash your filter to remove any remaining particles from the system.

It's important to note that flocculation can cause a significant drop in water level due to the removal of large amounts of particles, so be prepared to add additional water to your pool after vacuuming. Also, be sure to follow all safety precautions when handling chemicals, including wearing protective gloves and eyewear.

Pool Conditions

  • Chlorine Level – 2-4 mg/l
  • pH – Between 7.2 - 7.6
  • Dosage Rate – 1.25 litres per 50m³ (dilute the 1.25 litres into 10 litres of pool water first)
  • Allow 12 hours to settle.

Storage

Store in a cool dry place. Do not mix with other chemicals. Always wear suitable gloves and eye protection when handling chemicals.
